At 1:15 am Laklar Standard Time on February 28th, 2026, the Federal Republic of Laklar sustained a coordinated strike from the Syracuse Central Command ( SYRACOM ), nicknamed Operation Blazing Fury. The strike seemed to come out of no where, as many Laklaran installations and infrastructure have been damaged. Alongside this, non Laklaran installations were targeted, such as Kerbelian and Ikrelish airbases, ports, and communication towers.
According to the Syracusan Website, an estimated 1700 targets were struck, such as command centers, headquarters, dockyards, infrastructure equipment, and military equipment. Non-Laklaran assets were targeted such as Kerbelian and Ikrelish deployments; however, these did not face any serious damage as they were equipped with Kerbelian defense systems.
After the first volley, the Kerbelian Central Command was notified and recently mobilized forces in the region moved into position. Then, an emergency council was held virtually to decide the best course of action, and it ended with Stephen Kerman, the Laklaran president, triggering Article II of the Western Pact Alliance, bringing the immediate allies into the conflict, those being Kerbelia and Ikreland. Although in the fight, the two nations have pledged a limited war strategy to prevent further escalation.

In the first hour of the attack, roughly 1500 pieces of military equipment were destroyed, with very few assets such as physical infrastructure going down due to the defense installations ( about 200 distinct non-equipment losses ). Although not a significant proportion, this will still cause serious issues within Laklar as they will have to rely on backup systems.
For the remaining 71 hours, the Syracusans started to face fierce resistance as Kerbelian and Ikreland airwings took to the sky to defend against this attack, and the new NAAF-27 fighter jet, the world's first 6th generation fighter, has been reported to have downed 37 opposing aircraft, alongside defend against 500 cruise missiles. Still though, the occasional Syracusan missile broke through the missile defense system and met its target.
Navally, the Kerbelians have communicated with the Syracusans stating they will not engage with them in the Kermani Gulf or Klashnik Sea to avoid disruptions to world trade. The two parties have agreed, and the zone is a neutral one, being protected by the 5th Kerbelian Naval Division protecting the gulf, and the 6th Kerbelian Naval Division operating in the Konov Sea. Kerbelia has managed to, alongside Ikreland, obtain Naval control in the regions around Laklar, with Syracusan control being pushed back beyond the approaches of the Island.
After stability was established over the Iconian Archipelago, the United States of Kerbelia launched their counter to Syracuse's Operation Blazing Fury. Nicknamed Operation Skyfall's Wrath, the objective of of it was "to prevent the furthering of Syracusan threats by means of maximizing our capabilities while remaining limited in nature." ( Kerbelian Central Command, Operation Skyfall's Wrath ) According to the Kerbelian Central Command's report, they have inflicted serious damage on the Syracusan Naval and Air forces.
According to the Kerbelian Central Command, the Syracusans faced significant losses during Operation Skyfall's Wrath. One of the most surprising, and also scary, was the near sinking of Syracuse's pride of the fleet - the SNN Gregner, Syracuse's flagship aircraft carrier. More details of the victories of the operation can be found in the following slideshow, but information has been redacted to prevent leaks.
The near sinking of such an asset brings much worry to the world, as this may be seen as over-stepping on the idea of a "limited engagment." Many theorize how it could close this nearly came, but this is possibly due to poor positioning on Syracuse's part and the unexpected Kerbelian retaliation. Furthermore, the speed required to strike such a vessel is incomprehensible; however, the secret Kerbelian Skipping Re-entry missiles, may be the answer as the total surveillance of the area due to advances in space imaging could be the key. This, alongside conventional methods, may explain of this happened. It seems that, however, Kerbelia will not release any official statement of this battle, but their Kerbal Connections page released the news of the near sinking.
As of now, March 3rd, 2026, the world stands still as it awaits Syracusan response to Kerbelia's retaliation. All military forces around the world have been put on DEFCON 2 alertness, and Naval assets, alongside ground and air, have been moving in a way to prevent detection from Syracusan intelligence to prevent being struck by a volley of guided missiles similar to how that of the SNN Gregner failed at. With this, Western Pact assets have been ready to defend from any attack, staying in strategic positions that will deny loss. With Kerbelia and her allies on full alertness, every movement of Syracuse, even the push of a button, could cause a catastrophe. Merfurt and Sambro are expected to meet in Konov as soon as possible to negotiate an end to this conflict.
